Victor Finn

Victor Finn was appointed CEO of IMRO (the Irish performing rights organisation) in 2008. A Chartered Management Accountant with a degree in Marketing from the University of Limerick, Finn previously spent seven years as the Managing Director of MCPS Ireland (the Irish mechanical rights society). During his tenure there, he established successful licensing schemes for CD, DVD and other physical media including the then-brave new worlds of mobile and music downloads. Finn also brokered the joint online licensing scheme with IMRO and MCPSI, allowing online music users easier access to both repertoires, while maintaining royalty rates. Following his appointment as CEO in 2009, IMRO took on the administration of mechanicals on behalf of MCPS, creating one central royalty collection and licensing agency in Ireland. His main focus at IMRO since is maximizing the revenues of public performance fees in Ireland by updating tariffs, obtaining co-operation of major music user groups, delivering far more efficient services to members, devoting resources to transforming its business processes through the deployment of online self service functions and cloud licensing services for field operations. He is a founding director of IMIR, the lobbying and advocacy group, which brings together authors, composers, music publishers, artists and record labels to promote intellectual property rights in Ireland and of the Creative Industries Forum in Ireland, currently advocating major changes to Irish law through the Copyright Review Consultation announced by the Irish Government.
