Toby Gad

In his home country of Germany, Toby Gad’s parents were established figures in the Munich music scene. Gad and his brother, Jens, formed an original rock band called the Gad Rollers and toured throughout Germany. Although their first album, Q, scored them a friendship and a concert with George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic, fame as a musician was not in the cards for Gad.  In 1986, German producing powerhouse Frank Farian flew Toby and Jens to Frankfurt and a week later they had placed three of their songs on Milli Vanilli’s debut album, which went multi-platinum. Gad then produced Enrique Iglesias’s third album before opening his own studio, Strawberrybee Studios in Midtown Manhattan. There he worked with, among others, Australian girl-rock sensation the Veronicas on both of their double-platinum records (“Untouched”), Fergie (“Big Girls Don’t Cry”), Beyonce (“If I Were A Boy”) and most recently, Demi Lovato’s comeback hit, “Skyscraper.” Toby’s other collaborations have been with some of the most talented artists in the industry, including Alicia Keys, Fergie, Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, Kris Allen, Jordin Sparks, Robin Thicke, Brandy, Donna Summer, Veronicas, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Natasha Bedingfield, Veronicas, Sean Kingston, Colbie Caillat, and more. In 2009, Toby and his management launched a record label, Kite Records. Their first artists are starlet Jessica Jarrell – who has toured with Justin Beiber – and singer-songwriter Susan Justice, who was signed to Kite/Warner Bros through Kara Dio Guardi and Tom Walley.
