Marc Ferrari

MasterSource Music Library was started in 1992 by Marc Ferrari, a former major label recording artist with the bands Keel and Cold Sweat, both signed to MCA Records. He realized early on that there was a void to be filled in providing master-quality vocal tracks to the film and TV community, as all other music libraries up to that time were focusing their attention on different genres. He conceived the idea of starting the industry’s first song-based music library which would provide both vocal and non-vocal selections of the most current contemporary styles of music thus allowing clientele to utilize major-label quality recordings with the ease and financial flexibility of a library. To date, MasterSource, has placed over 2,500 songs in over 300 major motion pictures, 800 network television shows, movie trailers, network promos, commercials, corporate videos, theme parks, video games and other non broadcast applications, and works with only the industry's top cutting edge composers, many of which have been signed to major labels or have scored major motion pictures. In 2007, MasterSource was acquired by Universal Music Publishing and is now part of the Universal Publishing Production Music family alongside Killer Tracks and Firstcom. Marc served as MasterSource’s president for five years before stepping down this past January to pursue other interests. He continues to produce new content for MasterSource and is always looking for new talent. Marc recently became a published author with his new book called Rock Star 101, which was published by Allworth Press. It is an insider’s look at the music business from an artist’s point of view, and promises to be a great resource of knowledge and wisdom for those wanting to follow their dreams of becoming major label recording artists.
