 Kathleen Carey’s career highlights include: song-plugging for Bacharach and David’s catalogue; song-plugging at Screen Gems Music; creating a publishing company for Richard Perry when he launched Planet Records; A&R for Geffen Publishing; creating Unicity Music, a boutique publishing company at Universal/MCA; Reata Music Publishing, a joint venture with Warners; joining Sony/ATV in ‘93 as SVP A&R signing System Of A Down, John Mayer, Onerepublic, Colbie Caillat, Jason Reeves, Passion Pit and Jesse Harris. Prior to landing at Geffen Music, Kathleen did A&R for Warner Publishing where she worked with Quincy Jones on Michael Jackson’s Thriller album, bringing in songs and writers from Warners to the project, including John Bettis who co-wrote “Human Nature.”  During this time, Kathleen introduced Quincy and Michael to Steven Spielberg with the concept of Michael narrating the E.T. Storybook album. That record won a Grammy. Quincy then gave Kathleen The Color Purple book, which she gave Steven and he then agreed to direct the film.
