Heitor Pereira

Brazil-born Heitor Pereira started his music career as a guitarist for artists such as Simply Red, Sergio Mendes, Rod Stewart, and Jack Johnson among others. He came upon film scoring when he was brought in as a songwriter for the film, As Good As It Gets, where he found that his arrangements were better suited for scores. Producer James L. Brooks was impressed by Pereira’s talent and commissioned him to score his next film, Riding in Cars with Boys. Pereira has since gone on to score films such as The Smurfs, Despicable Me, It’s Complicated, Curious George and Beverly Hills Chihuahua, three of which garnered ASCAP awards. Pereira also won the 2006 Grammy for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) for “What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?” with Chris Botti and Sting.
