Charlotte Caffey (The Go-Go's)

Charlotte Caffey is a well-known songwriter and musician who started her career in her native Los Angeles in the 1970's. She became obsessed with rock music at a very young age, listening to L.A. radio in the Southern California sun. As a teen, she was fortunate enough to see The Beatles as well as Led Zepplin in concert. These two profound experiences sparked an obsession to be in a band and perform on stage. By the summer of 1971, she joined her first band and never looked back. Charlotte played in several groups while attending college where she received a degree in classical music. She then found herself in the middle of the infamous L.A. punk rock scene in the late 70’s, where she started an all-girl band called The Go-Go’s. Charlotte and the girls sold millions of records, earned a Grammy nomination and landed a #1 album for six consecutive weeks on The Billboard charts. The Go-Go’s performed with The Rolling Stones, The Police, David Bowie and Queen and headlined their own world tours. Charlotte is a die-hard songwriter who wrote classic songs including “We Got the Beat,” “Vacation” and “Head Over Heels” and has also written with such diverse artists as Courtney Love, Lindsey Buckingham, Keith Urban, Andy Summers, Heart, Jewel, Anna Waronker, Jon Bon Jovi, to name just a few. She has penned theme songs for TV shows, including Clueless, and her melodic, riff-laden songs have been used in countless movies including, Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Romy and Michelle, 13 Going On 30, as well as TV shows and commercials. In 2002, she started Five Foot Two Records with sister-in-law, Anna Waronker. In that same year, Charlotte started working on Lovelace: A Rock Opera.
